How Induction Heater generate Heat and why it is better?
Can you imagine a utensil which itself act as a source of heat. Let me simplify it suppose you need to cook something and the utensil in which you are keeping uncooked food itself becomes a source of heat. Yes this is what happens in induction. Induction Heater and cooking is very popular now a day. In cities people are using it as an alternative to gas cylinders as when actually needed it is very difficult to get cylinder than compared to inductions. Working of induction Heater:
Induction Heater or cooking is completely based on principle of “magnetic induction”. Yes a concept which was told to you in your school days. It is based on that. Then there is another term called “eddy current” you would have heard this term as well.
So we provide power supply to the induction keep the uncooked food in induction cookware and after sometimes we get cooked food.so lets understand what happens. As soon as we switch on the power supply, current is passed through the coil (present in induction) and results in production of magnetic field around it. Now as we are using ac current so the magnetic field changes its direction continuously and when we place electric conductor in this magnetic field, magnetic lines cut through the surface of conductor resulting in formation of eddy current.
Eddy current is produced within a conductor when placed in an alternating magnetic field and this current flow in loops within the conductor.
Heat is produced now due to resistance of that conductor. Here that conductor is our cookware which we put on top of induction. And finally from the utensil it passes to our uncooked food by conduction process and our food gets cooked.

Induction coil is responsible for generation of alternating magnetic field and cookware generates current and the resistance of cookware is responsible for heat generation. Induction coils are made of copper and cookware is of ferrous. Other metals can’t be used as only ferrous produces eddy current and for that our normal utensils are different from induction cookware. There is also a control panel present in induction with which we can control it.
Why it is better than others?
It is the most efficient method as there is no loss of energy. As the utensil itself acts as a source of heat which gets transferred to food. Where as in conventional cooking methods, heat is transferred from burner to utensil and then utensil to food so here heat loss happens due to air. Due to heat loss the time needed to cook food was more than the time taken in induction cooking, so it is even faster than the conventional cooking methods. For that reason it is the most effective way to cook food.
